Holly Brook Farm is nestled in the beautiful Yadkin Valley just before the foothills of the scenic Appalachian mountain’s. The Holcomb family purchased the farm land on September 9, 1942 and have lovingly been its caretaker to this day.

The love of horses have been a constant thread in the Holcomb family. Kelly and Gerald grew up with horses and showed them successfully in various disciplines. Courtney Belgians was formed in 1980 out of the love of this gentle draft horse breed and many champions were bred and raised on the lush pastures of this farm. The famous Coors hitch belonging to Dick Sparrow once stabled his Belgians in our barn on his way to Raleigh for the State Fair.



Holly Brook Appaloosas LLC was established in 2008 in order to promote the Appaloosa breed. Martha has been breeding, training and showing Appaloosa’s for 30+ years while Gerald bought his first Appaloosa stallion, Sand In My Zipper, in the latter part of 2008. While we no longer stand any stallions, we will continue to outcross our mares to quality stallions in order to showcase the versatile Appaloosa in any type of discipline.

International and Farmall tractors were a passion for Wayne Holcomb. Wayne bought and sold International tractors for 40 years, keeping a few to restore to its original glory. Gerald continues his father’s passion for “red paint” and continues to purchase and restore antique tractors, peddle tractors, toy tractors and collectibles.
